Nepali movie: Aago-2 is a about newspaper named ‘Aago’ whose Editor in Chief is Amar and Sonu is a news reporter. The film attempts to present the current political status of Nepal, and role of a journalist to take country to the right path. The movie features Sushil Chhetry in the lead role. Aago 2 was supposed to release on Ashoj 31. It was postponed due to the problem caused by the censor board.
Journalism is considered as “Fourth Estate” of a country, other three estate being government, courts and clergy. They act as a balance and an advocate for ordinary citizens against possible abuses from the power and authority of the other three estates. So they have a very important role of defending the rights of ordinary people. There is a strong belief that journalists control the mass media, but the best journalists recognize their role as servants of the people. They are channels through which information flow. The movie Aago-2 presents a true picture of current government and shows how a small newspaper media can damage huge political powers.
Aago-2 has very strong and revolutionary dialogues over the movie and the star performances were quite good. The movie, however lacked better storytelling and editing was crap. The cinematography was too poor and many. They way they were moving the camera was not disturbing. Like for instance, when Priya Rizal was giving her speech during the start of the movie, they rotated camera close to 90 degrees and we had to rotate our heads in the same direction to see the movie properly. I’m not sure why they want our neck broken. Similarly the rapid camera movements in title song were very disturbing. I also had a very difficult time watching the actions of the movie. Nepali movie has a trend of one action hero killing many bad guys and to some extend I have learned to digest that. But this movie is too much. Sushil Koirala had some supernatural ability to start fires in his own hand before starting a fight. He looked alien to me. Even if that was to be true, why wouldn’t people around watching him show any signs of being surprised. The finishing was even more terrible. The makers looked confused what they want to show. For one time the military guard looks to be supporting National Public Force. But as all the conversion finishes, the same guard tries to kill Amar, who is a member of the National Public Force. Again, the National Pubic force starts killing each member of political leaders and police seems to be opposing them. In the mean time, many police forces are killed by National Public Force. But I was really surprised to see that DSP (higher rank of Police Officer) only arrests one last remaining political leader and leaves all four members of the National Public Force.
Plot:
Sonu is a news reporter of a revolutionary newspaper “Aago”. Amar (Sushil Chhetri) is the uncle (mama) of Sonu and also editor in chief of the same newspaper. Sonu falls in love with a girl, who happens to be the daughter of corrupt political leader, Bhawani Das. Surya is another important figure in the movie, who gave everything in the revolutionary batter of the country, but was given nothing in return. The Aago newspaper starts writing all the negative things about the political leaders, which creates tension between leaders. They attempt to bribe the newspaper, but fails. At last, they blast the newspaper office. In order to take revenge Surya, Amar, Sonu and his girlfriend starts a new force called National Public Force.
