Ritu Movie Review
Change is inevitable. Be it in the nature, or our feelings, or relationships. Things don’t always work out the way we’ve planned. It takes turns we’d never even imagined. You can never be sure what comes next. It’s like autumn, which makes you happy but as you are getting happier, winter comes and freezes you. It makes you laugh and at the same time hurts you and makes you cry.
“Ritu” is a simple romantic story about the similar changes that took place in the lives of Meena, Suraj and Kripa. Ritu analyses the relationships of its characters through time. It’s not about falling in love, but about not letting your love wither and fall.
The director has a done a good job in depicting the triangular love relationship between Meena (Malina Joshi), Suraj (Raj Ballav Koirala) and Kripa (Reema Bishwokarma) . He has attempted to present the story of Meena before and after her marriage simultaneously and successfully made it beautiful. Although the movie has been presented in a differently, it still lacks some punching, which could have taken this movie to different level.
The star cast, Malina did outstanding job to retain her character and took her dialogues superbly and Reema performed good as well, but Raj Ballav was too poor. His performance was unacceptable and ruined the whole movie. I’m sorry but he was making the crowd laugh whenever he was supposed to make them cry. Is it because he skipped the rehearsals or has the director not prepared well for his dialogues and actions? I hope he works hard before taking his shots in his next movie and learn from his mistakes.
In spite of all these things, Ritu becomes an average Nepali movie and a watchable movie. At least, this is not horrible as the movie Megha.
